Building a strategy involves 5 steps:
- A common understanding of the organization or team's purpose.
- Development of a SWOT analysis
- Strategy development
- Roadmap development
Understanding the organization or team's purpose ensures everyone is working toward the same goal. It drives everything we do. We conduct a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) Analysis so we know what skills, knowledge, resources, and talents we have, where we can develop, and in what areas we need to watch out. We then build out a strategy so we know where we are going and then a roadmap so we know how we are going to get there. Of course, the roadmap would include measurements for success.
