In October of 2006, I received ISI’s Meritorious Service Awardfor my work on the COGnitive ENGine Technology (COGENT) project which was in turn part of a DARPA program (ACIP) to build AI directly into hardware architectures. I am an erstwhile shepherd turned computer programmer. In my twenties, I traveled New England tending sheep on mountains and making sheep’s milk cheeses. In the year 2000, I returned to university to study Computer Systems Engineering and took a job as a programmer in an AI lab. Soon after, I moved to Los Angeles and was hired by the University of Southern California’s Information Science Institute (ISI) as an research programmer focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI). These days, I am a freelance programmer and spend most of time writing iOS applications. I am fluent in Lisp, Java, Objective-C, and Unix Shell scripting. I am an experienced Tomcat, Apache2, MySQL, and *nix administrator.
