Technical Writing

$5/hr Starting at $25

I worked with defense contractors for almost 30 years as a word processor, writer, and editor before I retired.  I never left the company, but our place of business changed hands several times.  During that time, I paid so much attention to detail that I was allowed to proofread and edit my own work.  I feel any job worth doing is worth doing well.

My area of expertise was in general Navy diving systems and equipment, but I also dabbled in other areas when asked.  These areas included, but were not limited to, mine neutralization, helicopter roll-on/roll-off procedures, command and control systems, large-scale saturation diving documentation, training documents, and interactive training.  None of these were classified projects so trying to pick my brain for sensitive information will result in your being none the wiser.  My brain usually retained information only long enough for the task at hand and then immediately moved on to the next task.

You might question why I was able to do my job well if I didn't retain technical details for any length of time.  It was because I was more concerned with presentation and clarity.  Writing procedures is a talent.  Writing with clarity is a talent.  Observing grammatical rules adds to clarity.  Also, I always had a technical point-of-contact who handled the technical details for me.  I just presented them in a clear, concise way.  Was I perfect?  No, but I strived to be perfect.
