My name is Brian Jaffe and my freelancing business is The CAD Advantage. Since 2011 I’ve helped companies with their AutoCAD-related needs. My work has brought me to a variety of companies, from small HVAC design firms like Universal Refrigeration to multibillion-dollar corporations like Amazon. I’ve been involved in multiple facets of CAD drafting, including piping design, architecture, and factory designs to be built in-house. Two factors set me and The CAD Advantage apart from other CAD drafters. First is my educational background. Although a CAD drafter by trade, I earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Iowa in 2011. That rigorous training allows me to analyze a project from multiple technical standpoints and grasp all that goes into its successful development and completion. The other advantage I bring to clients is creativity, which gives me an added perspective on ways to accomplish project goals. I come from a family of creatives. My mother is an artist, my father a writer, and my brother a poet. Being surrounded by creativity my whole life resulted in an ability to view projects with a wider vision, outside the realm of engineering. There are times when the best solutions come from taking a step back and scrutinizing an assignment from a non-drafting standpoint.
