The Egyptian House of Representatives approved a cabinet reshuffle in Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly's government that included 13 portfolios.
The amendments included the ministers of health, education, irrigation, immigration, higher education, tourism and antiquities, commerce and industry, civil aviation, manpower, culture, local development, the public business sector, and military production.
The House of Representatives held an extraordinary session today, Saturday, at the request of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, to consider the proposal for a ministerial reshuffle, as the parliament was in a parliamentary recess.
In a post on his personal Facebook page, the Egyptian president said, "I called the parliament today to convene to discuss the amendment of a number of ministerial portfolios, which it was agreed to change after consulting with the prime minister.
He added that the goal of this step is to "develop the government's performance in some important internal and external files that contribute to protecting the state's interests and capabilities, and directly affect the services provided to the Egyptian citizen."
