Wabash (NYSE:WNC) announced to meet customer demand and equipment challenges that refrigerated carriers have faced for years, including thermal efficiency, strength, weight and asset life.

EcoNex Technology is Wabash's proprietary next generation molded structural vehicle that uses environmentally friendly materials aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and relying on non-renewable energy.

EcoNex technology has more thermal capacity while being lighter, and Wabash believes this technology significantly reduces wear and extends the life of the assets. This is a sustainability advantage added to  customers' environmental goals. The Wabash has demonstrated the unique, value-added properties of EcoNex technology with more than 30 million miles of actual use.

In recent years, customers, employees, investors, and governments have put increasing pressure on companies to show greater environmental stewardship and social responsibility. This comes at a time when the feasibility study for sustainable operations is getting stronger every year.

For many companies, supply chains have become a focus because they use a lot of resources and money and are often a source of unnecessary waste. Hence, supply chain sustainability has emerged as a major objective of the company. Companies are beginning to measure the environmental and societal impact of their goods and services, from the beginning to the end of their life cycles.

Supply chain sustainability refers to companies' efforts to consider the environmental and human impact of their products' journey through the supply chain, from raw material sourcing to production, storage, delivery and every transportation link in between. The goal is to reduce environmental damage from factors such as energy use, water consumption and waste production while positively impacting people and communities in and around their operations. These concerns add to the companies' traditional supply chain concerns about revenue and profits.

Companies around the world have taken steps to reduce carbon emissions, reduce waste and improve working conditions. By tracking sustainability metrics in Supply Chain Management (SCM) systems

"Whether we’re transporting frozen vegetables in the heat of summer or fresh fruit in the cold of winter, EcoNex Technology ensures that temperatures inside our trailers are consistent,” said Ken Johnson, CEO of Leonard's Express, Inc.
