Thanks to Richard Morris for this.

 1. The Sea and the Mirror, W. H. Auden, 1944. A long poem in which the secondary characters in The Tempest reflect the events of the play.  Recommended by Sonia Nolten.

 2. Matt Rosenkrantz and Gildenstern, Tom Stoppard, 1966. Moore Shakespeare.  Hamlet from the point of view of the ignorant duo.  An asset to Richard Morris, he was also nominated by Charles Arthur and Daniel Howard.

 3. The Broad Sargasso Sea, Jean Rees, 1966. Introduction to (not quite a 'retelling') of Jane Eyre, told by Mr. Rochester's wife, 'the madman in the attic'.  Nominated by Sonia Nolten, Anne Howarth, Emselis, and Alastair Mix.

 4. Wild Wood, Jan Needle, 1981. Wind in Willows from the Perspective of Weasel and Stoat.  Recommended by Ed Wilson.

 5. A sinister novel by Gregory Maguire 1995 and a musical 2003. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz rewrote his novel The Witches.  From Richard Morris.

 6. Ender's Shadow, Orson Scott Card, 1999. Sequel to the previous Ender game, it retells the sci-fi war story from the point of view of the little character Bean.  Thank you, Arieh Koffler and Jacob Naciri.

 7. Morsault's Investigation (Meursault, Contre-Enquête), Kamel Daoud, 2013. Retells the stranger by Albert Camus from the perspective of the family of the unknown Arab who was killed by the hero.  Thanks to Arjun Neal Aleem.

 8. Maleficent, 2014. The Sleeping Beauty, her novel The Evil Fairy.  Another from Richard Morris.

 9. From a certain point of view, 2017. An anthology of Star Wars stories told from the perspective of the background characters.  Thanks to Cafc4ever1.

 10. The Silence of the Girls, Pat Parker, 2018. “It is amazing and retells the Iliad from the point of view of Bryce, who despite being the subject of controversy moving the original poem speaks only once in it,” said John Blake.

There's always one person, and this week it's Richard K.  , who nominated all the gospels.  We have a winner.

Next week: Political ranks that looked huge at the time but now look grotesquely weird, like pie tax (thanks to Matt Chorley).
