For Theologians in the job market, I provide assistance in creating a resume that highlights your strengths for traditional church venues or show-cases your "transferable" skills aimed at non-traditional employment settings. Materials include updating your resume and CV as well as creating cover letters, teaching pedagogies, and promotional dashboards. Individual consultation is also available via Skype or Google Hangout, on such subjects as networking, interviewing, penetrating the "Hidden Job Market", and negotiation. Providing career guidance to ministers, bi-vocational pastors and MDiv. graduates venturing into nontraditional fields, has been my focus throughout my many years of practice. Principal and owner of THEOLOGY CAREERS INITIATIVE, I provide theology professionals with direction and support as they pursue their vocations in traditional ministry, tent-making endeavors or other nontraditional fields. I'm a proven Career Management Consultant, author and professional speaker who has published articles about my work in such national publications as InTrust Magazine and the Association of Theological Schools Online Colloquy publication. I've also presented (by invitation) at the national conference for (Theological) Student Personnel Administrators. Having spent more than 20 years in the corporate realm as a Vice President for Organization Development, the Career Management industry as a Senior Career Consultant, and as Director of Career Services for a prominent seminary, I know first-hand the strategies and tactics it takes for a theology professional to navigate a vocational transition successfully. For those clients so motivated, I integrate spiritual reflection and direction into my practice, am certified in more than a half-dozen career related assessments and in a former career consulting firm, led the company each year in the number of clients securing jobs by an average of 250%! I've taught career management principles to pastors and theology students at the Iliff School of Theology, Denver Seminary, Denver Presbytery (PCUSA), Whitworth University, Denver Center for Work and Spirituality, along with managers in such secular venues as Kellogg’s, Hewlett Packard, Schlumberger, Lockheed-Martin, Daniels College of Business, Colorado Human Resource Association, and the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment. I've also provided testimony on important employment legislation before the Colorado State Senate and the Colorado House of Representatives. My graduate degree is from the Iliff School of Theology with additional graduate studies at Princeton Theological Seminary and the University of Colorado Graduate School for Public Affairs. I received my certification as an Executive Career Coach through Nightingale / Conant. I reside in Centennial, Colorado with my wife of 34 years. We have two grown children, a granddaughter, four dogs, and enjoy travel, golf, history, politics and musical theater.
