Financial crime is becoming an increasingly important element within gang crime and currently constitutes the greatest threat. This is what National Police Chief Anders Thornberg says in connection with a press conference.

Among other things, he highlights the role of exchange offices in organized crime.

- Exchange offices are the cornerstone of the parallel economy, i.e. the criminal economy, says Thornberg and continues:

- If we get the money, we get the criminals.

The criminals have gained an increased ability to identify shortcomings in the Swedish welfare system, says Director General of the Ecocrime Agency Monica Rodrigo. At the same time, much of the crime in Sweden is controlled from abroad, which complicates investigative work.

- We focus on actors who are at the very top of the hierarchy. In this way, you break the base of crime, because these people are more difficult to recruit, says Rodrigo.
