ASilver Alert has been issued for a missing Buncombe County woman. Authorities said 78-year-old Sandra Gale Burleson is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment. Burleson was last seen on Candler Knob Road in Asheville.

Because of staffing issues, many bus drivers are having to double or triple up on routes. Asheville City Schools is launching a new bus tracking app called Here Comes the Bus. It will give parents real-time updates on when their child’s bus will be arriving.

A Haywood County Sheriff's deputy was laid to rest Sunday. Authorities say 36-year-old Brennan Mehaffey died Wednesday of natural causes. Deputy Mehaffey began his law enforcement career in 2007 with the Maggie Valley Police Department. He joined the Haywood County Sheriff's Office in 2018. Mehaffey is described as a family man who loved the outdoors. He is survived by his parents.
