The Macon County Sheriff’s Office is searching for two individuals in connection with a death investigation. Authorities say Jessica Rita Smith and Dereck McCrackin are both charged with desecration of a corpse after human remains were found over the weekend.

A new sign in Waynesville is causing controversy. The green sign popped up Thursday night on a property off Old Balsam Road, across from the Hunt Estates neighborhood. The sign appears to be advertising an incoming adult superstore and strip club. Property owner Dustin Smith confirmed he's using the area as an extension of his vehicle repair business but didn’t elaborate on plans for the property.
