As we head into the weekend, let's take a look at the news from this past week.
After the destruction of Hurricane Ian, New Bedford custodian Anthony Lessa Jr. headed to Florida to help in the aftermath. A longtime Red Cross volunteer Lessa helped run logistics for the FEMA camp, which has been serving as a base of operations for — among other things — collecting, organizing, and bringing truckloads of supplies to places where they are badly needed.
New Bedford girls' volleyball had a lot to celebrate on Senior Night as they broke their 10-game losing streak with a win against rival Brockton. They held their own for a 25-22 victory. New Bedford honored its 11 seniors before and after the match, honoring their teamwork and dedication.
