I offer transcription services for all types of audio and video files, and for any type of purpose. I will deliver a transcribed document via Microsoft Word, Google Docs or PDF file. Each hour of audio takes approximately one business day to be delivered, but this can vary according to the quality of the file.
I use the following guide when transcribing, unless otherwise requested:
o I deliver a transcript of the exact words said within the file
o I use British or US English and whichever style guide the client prefers
o No corrections are made to grammatical errors
o I do not include punctuation for extra clarity or readability purposes, but will include obvious punctuation, such commas in lists and punctuation at the end of a line
o I only use speech marks when someone is quoting what someone else has said eg. She said to me, “What a disaster!”
o I do not include filler words such as “uh” or “uhmmm” to make the transcript read more smoothly
o I use names if they are clearly indicated from the beginning of the file. If not, speakers are denoted by a number, e.g. Speaker 1. Gender can be specified on request, e.g. Female 1/Male 2
o Any pauses longer than three seconds will be denoted by an ellipsis. Any pauses shorter than this will not be indicated
o Inaudible content will be denoted by [inaudible]
o Words such as ´cause and yea will be transcribed as said
o Repeated words will be included, e.g. If they- if they want to do it
o Numbers under 10 will be written in words
