150 WPM, 95%+ accuracy. How? For more than 3 years, I've worked as an in-class transcriber for deaf and hard of hearing students at Oregon State University. It is absolutely critical that I am able to provide my students with the lecture as it's presented. To do this, I was trained and qualified with TypeWell typing software. It's a short-hand, self-expanding typing system. This dramatically boosts my typing speed and since I'm independently licensed with the software, I can utilize it for recorded audio transcription purposes on my own time. Due to the fact I'm able to type accurately at an accelerated speed, I can devote more time than the average transcriber to proof-reading and ensuring the transcript I deliver to you is clean, accurate, perfectly readable, and print-ready. I've been supplementing my full-time work with private transcription projects for as long as I've been at the university. My rates vary based on audio quality, numbers of speakers, accents, etc. Additionally, whether you want full-verbatim (fillers included), readable verbatim (fillers excluded), or intelligent verbatim (emphasis on capturing intent and grammar) will factor into pricing, ranging respectively from more expensive to less so. Being that I've transcribed subjects ranging from Freshman English to graduate-level biophysics, material isn't generally a factor in cost. I try to price fairly to account for $25 per hour of labor on my end. To give you a rough idea of the pricing range: One speaker, clear audio - $55 per audio hour The man you're talking to is the very same man doing the work. I don't outsource your audio. I guarantee a turnaround of 2 hours of audio every 24 hours. All figures will be accurately quoted and fixed prior to formalizing the project.
