I have achieved a 2:1 reading BA Modern Languages at the University of Birmingham in England. The languages I studied were German, Spanish and Portuguese along with modules in literature, film, history and culture. I am proficient in Spanish and German, consequently I am able to translate English texts to both of these languages and vice versa. I also have a basic understanding of French, Portuguese, Italian and Chinese (Mandarin). Through learning other languages, I have gained an immense interest and passion in grammar. Thus, I am able to recognise grammar errors and make corrections where appropriate. This is further reinforced by my experience editing the assignments of foreign students whilst I was at university. As a key representative of the UoB Languages society, many of the international students would approach me to help them with any difficulties with English language or culture. This included problems in classes My knowledge of English grammar, syntax and lexicon has been further developed by 3 years of language teaching. I have a 120 hour TEFL certificate, which makes me qualified to teach English as a foreign language in any country. I have taught a variety of different people from different cultures (England, China, Spain...) and age groups (ranging from 8-20). As a result, I am able to explain grammar points from absolute beginners to native level. Additional work experience that I have obtained is majorly in the food industry, with 8 years in customer service and hospitality and 1 year in a managerial post. Due to this, I strive for customer satisfaction in all pursuits and will be sure to deliver the high standard to which I hold myself.
