Translation unlocks the secrets of a foreign language text; as a translator, I share linguistic and cultural treasures with my readers. I am of Franco-Belgian descent, but grew up in Anglo-Ontario, where I attended French immersion school, and regularly visited France. In middle school, I lived in Lyon, France, as part of an international exchange program, where I caught the francophile bug that forever changed my life and shaped my personality. I have always had a passion for reading and writing in my two native languages, but I owe my love for Translation to Shakespeare. I remember bringing my worn-out bilingual edition of Hamlet everywhere, comparing Shakespeare’s English genius to the ingeniously translated French text. Quickly, my collection of bilingual plays, novels, essays, and poetry outgrew my bookshelves. I am currently a third-year French to English translation student at the University of Ottawa. More impassioned by language and translation than ever, I also study linguistics, Spanish, and Italian. I excel in both my courses and professional work. I graduated high school with honours and was awarded the Ontario scholars prize. In University, I am a recipient of academic bursaries for top grades. I have experience as a student translator for the Ontario Ministry of Education and as a volunteer, translating for TEDx. Currently, I am translating medical pamphlets and professional websites from English to French.
