My name is Karen Amaya Vecht and I have worked as an English-Spanish translator, editor and proofreader for ca. 10 years now, and additionally as DA-EN and DA-ES translator for 2 years. My background is actually as a biologist with an M.Sc. in agricultural development. I have worked for an international center Bioversity International that belongs to the CGIAR Consortium mainly as an editor and translator in agricultural, biological, economic and social sciences, as well as in different technological issues. Since 2015 I became an independent translator, editor and proofreader and I am currently working as such, giving support to translation and edition tasks for national and international staff working in organizations as the International Center for Tropical Agriculture CIAT, the Latin-American Fund for Irrigated Rice FLAR, and Universidad Nacional de Colombia, sede Palmira. However, although my main areas of expertise are the biological, agronomical, economical and social sciences, including technological issues, I have also worked as a freelance translator and editor with different agencies in areas as IT, technical product descriptions, banking, insurance and personal documents, children and health care products, military and medical issues, and green cities and architecture, among others. I work with the CAT tool SDL Trados Studio 2014 and MemoQ 2015 as well as with the Office package (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and with Adobe Acrobat.
