Trump Affidavit Documents Point to Conce

$25/hr Starting at $25

A federal judge unsealed a key document related to the FBI’s search of former President Donald Trump’s Florida estate despite concerns that its release ‘could alter the investigation’s trajectory.’

A federal judge unsealed a heavily redacted version of a key document related to the search of former President Donald Trump’s Florida estate on Friday over the objections of the Justice Department, which cited ongoing concerns in the court records about the possibility of obstruction of justice and that more sensitive documents are being withheld.

Much of the affidavit, which was expected to reveal more details about the circumstances of the investigation – including why law enforcement sought a search warrant for Trump’s Florida home and the evidence that gave them probable cause to do so – was blacked out. And while it did not name the targets of the law enforcement probe, it did nevertheless reveal the high stakes of the criminal investigation.

The affidavit, which was filed ahead of the search of Trump’s estate, explained that “the government is conducting a criminal investigation concerning the improper removal and storage of classified information in unauthorized spaces,” along with the “unlawful concealment or removal” of government records.
