Trump's defense team has yet to publicly react to this subpoena, but there is a possibility that it could comply with it or negotiate with the commission , challenge or ignore it altogether.
This subpoena comes on the same day that former adviser steve bannon was sentenced to four months in prison.
The nine-member panel issued a letter to the former head of state's lawyers, demanding their sworn testimony by Nov. 14.
The vice president of the commission added that if Trump ignores the subpoena, “actions will be taken that have to be taken”. The request comes at a time when the Republican Party is the favorite to win a majority in the House of Representatives in the midterm elections, and can then end the investigation.
