Two people are believed to have died after a crash on the Centenary Highway at Springfield, west of Brisbane.

Police said a car travelling west crossed into the eastbound lanes before colliding with two cars at about 6:30am.

Paramedics, including critical care and the high acuity unit, assessed six patients at the scene where three people were trapped in their vehicles.

Two people are believed to have died at the scene.

The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) said two men in their 20s were in critical condition.

One was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, while the other was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.

A woman in her 20s was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition with leg and abdominal injuries. 

Another woman with minor injuries was taken to the Ipswich Hospital in a stable condition.
