I designed, built and supervised many commercial voice solutions for customers in the automotive, electronics and health industries. My solutions run in millions of cars and other devices on multiple environments, platforms and architectures. I customized solutions in frameworks/SDKs of all major voice suppliers, including several commercial solutions for embedded environments using Nuance speech recognition, and deploying a number of commercial Alexa skills for Amazon Echo. I managed development of solutions in a dozen languages, including English, German, Japanese, French and Mandarin. Nowadays, speech recognition works marvelously well - but it just converts sound to a text string. Getting this "meaningless" text string to help a customer solve a problem is the actual challenge. That's why my expertise and commitment is centered around two skills needed for creating a useful voice solution: customization, and allowing users to communicate natural language.
