In my profession as a biotrauma remediation specialist and as a Mortuary Affairs Specialist with the Marines, people always want to know the same thing: “how do you do what you do?” More specifically, as a Marine, how do I look at the face of embodied sacrifice, and still be able to perform my duties? I try and relate the scenario to that of a doctor’s. A doctor becomes a doctor because he cares about society and its’ people, and he wants to help them because the occupation is one of importance and necessity. However, if a doctor was emotionally tied into performing a surgery, he could never operate with the same focus. A doctor must psychologically separate himself from the trauma that orbits a hospit
