I'm a STEM guy with web programming experience and a passion for software, education, self-improvement, and entrepreneurship. I am a self-taught computer programmer with over eleven years of experience working on front and back-end programming in some of my own projects. One of these projects is CosmoLearning.org, a non-profit educational website that distributes thousands of lectures and courses from top universities around the world, serving three million users annually. CosmoLearning employs object-oriented design principles using PHP, MySQL, and Javascript. I’ve used search engine optimization and my own custom content management system (similar to WordPress) since starting the website, and I’ve had to learn a lot of open-source libraries to use in my projects. This has given me the means to pick up new technologies and libraries I’ve never used with in a short amount of time. One of this is the Phalcon PHP framework, which speeds up PHP development significantly and saves server resources. I am also the developer and co-creator of the mobile app ReachOut, designed to support student mental health and self-improvement. It is powered by Node.js and Java for the backend server using GraphQL for scalable database operations, and the React.js library is used for front-end development. The ReactNative framework allows me to develop iOS and Android versions of the app using solely Javascript, thus saving development time and offering a smooth and reliable GUI and UX. With this setup, I am able to quickly incorporate open-source libraries to enhance the application while preserving performance. ReachOut is expected to be launched by mid-2019 and be accessible to all ages. I am comfortable employing new languages and libraries I haven't used before, most notably Vue.js which I've learned recently. Please contact me for further questions and samples of my work.
