I lucked out with this young lady through the research from one of my MBA interns and I couldn't be happier with the results. I had hired the first translator and while she was very nice, she threw in the towel pretty quickly. But fortunately, in trying to hedge my bet for this very important translation, I actually awarded the contract to the both of them figuring at least one would come through.
It didn't take Dawn and I very long to figure out that this was not going to be a translation but rather a rewriting of the seven thousand words because this 120 page brochure had some very thought-provoking and impressive word craft and that requires much better skills than just translation; in fact the ability to figure out how to do the equivalent writing job in another language. If that's not enough of a challenge, add the fact that Dawn had no familiarity with my industry; indeed a tough hill to climb!
Not only did she tackle it effortlessly, she sent me a text every time she needed a better understanding of what it was I was trying to communicate. I could tell she was very busy at school yet she was excellent with her communication back and forth and very expedient and getting it done. I will never use anybody else but her. She's a writer and a translator and a thinker!
One might ask how I know she did a great job? Because I had a Chinese brochure made for billionaires, I got a friend of a friend to agree to handle the phone calls from any prospects and she insisted on changing a couple of thoughts that could have been communicated better. She was only able to come up with very, very little and that's when I knew that this young lady Dawn was really very talented. Here is somebody that bills at $600 an hour coming up with minor mprovements on someone I'm paying a tiny fraction of that amount!
Ask me if I'm happy. Delighted would be more like it. Look no further this is your girl.
