The former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Senegal is appointed Prime Minister by the President of the Republic Macky Sall. But who is Amadou Ba?
Mr. Amadou Ba is the new Prime Minister of Senegal. He is appointed this Saturday by presidential decree n°2022-1774 of September 17, 2022.
"The President of the Republic called me this morning and decided to appoint me Prime Minister. I should be at his side to help him in the implementation of his vision set out in the Emerging Senegal Plan", responded M Ba after his appointment.
According to him, the priorities of his mission are to "improve the purchasing power of households, price stability, security, housing, sanitation, vocational training, entrepreneurship and employment."
He is the first to occupy this post, which was restored by the Head of State in December 2021.
Mr. Amadou Ba is the 4th Prime Minister of President Macky Sall after Abdoul Mbaye (2012-2013), Aminata Touré (2013-2014) and Mouhammad Boun Abdallah Dione (2014-2019).

A technocrat at the Primature
The new Head of Government was Director of Taxes (2004), then Director General of Taxes and Domains (2006), Minister of Economy and Finance (2013), Minister of Economy, Finance, Planning and Budget, then Minister of Foreign Affairs and Senegalese Abroad (2019-2020).
It was in 1980 that Mr. Amadou Ba obtained his technical baccalaureate in management.
Eight years later, in 1988, he obtained a master's degree in economics, option business management and a certificate from the National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM), in the Taxes and Domains section.
He started his professional career in 1989 in Diourbel, as a trainee inspector.
Subsequently, he was made Chief Inspector of the first sector of Value Added Tax at the General Directorate of Taxes and Domains (DGID) in Dakar.
Amadou Ba took two advanced training courses in 1991, the first at the International Institute of Public Administration in Paris and the second in Baltimore.
Mr. Ba was also head of inspection and delegate commissioner controller of Insurance at the Insurance Department, from 1992 to 1994.
Aged 61, the new head of government of Senegal who is an official of the ruling party in the department of Dakar, is a sports enthusiast. He is the father of three children.
