Wife Tom Egbers: 'His health is not goin

$5/hr Starting at $25

The health of 'NOS Sport' presenter Tom Egbers (65) is currently 'not doing well'. His wife Janke Dekker (59) announced this in a press statement in which she announced that she would step down as director of the Mores hotline with immediate effect. Tom has been accused in an article by 'de Volkskrant' of misconduct in the workplace of the sports program. According to Janke, there is 'incorrect reporting' and her husband is not doing well.

"I want to work hard for my family and husband right now"

"My husband and our family are very affected by all of this, both mentally and physically," Janke said in her press statement. "I want to work hard for my family and husband right now," Janke continues. "I am very sorry that we are now seeing the wound that we managed to heal as a family 15 years ago ripped open by a publicly completely incorrect reporting."

According to Janke and her lawyer Richard Korver, 'there is a lot wrong' about the article of de Volkskrant. That article describes an affair Tom had with an intern who was 22 years old at the time. When the relationship was broken, he allegedly bullied her. "What is not true is actually that an extramarital relationship from about 15 years ago that has already been in the press at that time, is recycled, as it were, and a cross-border sauce is thrown over it, as if Mr. Egbers is the one who only did that," korver said.Janke calls the claim that she did not want to talk to de Volkskrant about this issue 'incomplete and therefore incorrect'. She says she tried to talk to the newspaper and that her lawyer made an appointment for that. According to her, that appointment has been canceled.Janke says of Tom's affair: "There was an affair at a time when Tom was not doing well. That was a reciprocal relationship in which the young woman also took initiatives and, for example, sent a large number of messages to my husband." Tom allegedly ended the relationship, Janke continues. After that, they would have experienced "a series of incidents." "As a result, we as a family received protection from the police for a longer period of time." Because of the privacy of her family and that of the then young woman, Janke does not want to say more about it now.In the piece of de Volkskrant, Tom expresses regret for his actions. "I look back on this whole period as an exceptionally sad one, in which I made mistakes. I regret that. Unfortunately, I can't turn it back."..
