I began my career as a writer and editor in 2008, after passing my MA in Publishing Studies with a distinction. Since then I have worked consistently in publishing in a variety of contexts. These include academic, non-fiction and creative books, commercial magazines, business-to-business digital marketing materials, and a variety of journals covering subjects such as poetry, law and agriculture. My passion for language and research enables me to adapt comfortably to most subject areas. I also have experience editing English from UK, US and non-native writers. Prior to 2008, I spent ten years working in film and television, having qualified with a BA (Hons) in English Language. My most recent long-term contract was as the Commissioning Editor of an international craft magazine, which I worked on until August, 2015. Since then, I have been involved in editing a number of projects, including an aspiration business guide, military autobiographies and various IT books written by non-native writers of English. Notwithstanding, my field of experience has been broad and diverse across fiction and non-fiction, commercial and academic texts, I have extensive experience of the production process, and I have considerable commissioning, writing, copy-editing, proofreading and typesetting experience. I'm adept at InDesign and can use Adobe's Creative Suite. My communication and leadership skills as the senior manager of a team are excellent and have been honed both in the publishing and film industries. I’m highly motivated and proficient at working under pressure and to deadlines, and, in fact, managed to simultaneously produce 13 regular issues and three 136-page sell-out bookazines during the second year of my term as Popular Patchwork Editor. My editorial career has exclusively been working remotely from my office in Yorkshire, and I have found this to be the most constructive way to work and manage my time.
