As a writer Shaw has been published in various South African magazines and by the US National Library of Poetry. She was Editor in Chief and Advertising Sales Manager of Southern Africa's only ethnic hairdressing trade magazine, and has continued to hone her craft as a freelance writer. Her career highlight has been interviewing Liberia's President and Africa's first female President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf on the eve of her inauguration. Shaw has travelled Africa extensively and works as a Communications Consultant specializing in issues related to the Continent. She has a Bachelor's Degree in International Business from the University of Maryland in the U.S. and speaks fluent French.
