My love of writing comes from the experiences of my every day life. I make it a point to seek out the beauty that most of us take advantage of and write about it in an admirable and humorous way. A good example would be "Early October Morning". I wrote it while drinking coffee and watching my mom's cat play. Early October Morning There is about one hour in the early October morning when most people are still asleep and you can enjoy the peacefulness before the day starts. In this hour I am abundantly aware of these simple things that make my morning beautiful. In this hour, the light from the sun is filtered, on its way to me by the changing autumn leaves, perfectly displaying their red, orange, yellow and even a little bit of green, making them seem almost transparent. Through those leaves the light also hits a miniature disco ball that has been strategically placed in a corner window, sending little specs of light gently dancing through the room. The youngest cat stalks and pounces on the specs as the dance. Occasionally a slither of light will make it to the solar powered wind chime creating a quiet song that seems to sing "all is well". In this hour the gentle breeze helps to release the loosened leaves from their branches so they can make their final beautiful journey to the earth. It brings the smell of a blooming tree into the room through the open windows to mix with the smell of coffee creating a unique and comforting scent. The youngest dog and the oldest cat gaze out the window, each observing their own unreachable prey. In this hour I lounge on the couch with a good book and a blanket, occasionally putting down the book to take a sip of my coffee and take in the beauty of the morning. "This hour is almost over", I think to myself as the neighborhood dogs start barking at the loud trucks from the city coming to pick up the trash. Then the youngest cat throws up and I know this hour is done and my day has begun.
