Relation between covid & smoking habit

• As a result of increased (elevated) levels of stress and anxiety during covid-19, the rate of smoking has been increased and that is so dangerous and unhealthy to our respiratory systems and it is maybe also increase the severity of covid-19 during infection which increases the risk development of coronavirus. Although, it reduces our fear or stress but it also was approved that it is so dangerous for a lot of vital organs in the body causing cancer such as Bladder, Blood (acute myeloid leukemia), Cervix, Colon and rectum (colorectal), Esophagus, Kidney and ureter, Larynx, Liver, Oropharynx (includes parts of the throat, tongue, soft palate, and the tonsils), Pancreas, Stomach, Trachea, bronchus, and lung. It was proved also that smoking could cause more death cases than Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), Illegal drug use, Alcohol use, Motor vehicle injuries, Firearm-related incidents. It is also related to cardiovascular diseases such as stroke and coronary heart disease.
• Tobacco kills more than 8 million people per year across the world. More over 7 million of these fatalities are caused by direct tobacco use, whereas 1.2 million are caused by nonsmokers breathing secondhand smoke. Tobacco use is a known risk factor for a variety of respiratory infections, as well as a contributor to the severity of respiratory infections. And as we know that COVID-19 is an infectious disease that primarily attacks the lungs. Smoking impairs lung function making it harder for the body to fight off coronaviruses and other diseases.
• Statistics relation between smoking and covid-19: 

This survey was released on April 2020 and it was found in Europe that by the time of quarantine, the rate of smoking increased in a lot of European countries such as in Spain (19%), Italy(17%), Germany(10%), France(9%), united kingdom(8%) during covid-19 quarantine. And that means there is positive correlation between the smoking rate and covid-19 (quarantine environment).
