Yankees no-hit by Astros as offense wast

The Yankees became the third team in baseball to go hitless this season on Saturday afternoon, when the Astros tossed a combined no-hitter off the back of Cristian Javier’s seven shutout innings.

Javier struck out 13 Yankees over 115 pitches before Dusty Baker removed him for Hector Neris in the eighth inning. Neris worked in and out of trouble, walking two batters before getting out of the inning. The loss is the Yankees’ second straight to the Astros after they won 15 in a row at home. Their record drops to 52-20 ahead of Sunday’s series finale. The Astros were the last team to no-hit the Yankees, doing so behind six pitchers in 2003.

Houston’s pair of runs came on solo homers by J.J. Matijevic in the seventh and Jose Altuve in the eighth. Gerrit Cole allowed just one run over seven innings.
