As an undergrad, I went to my English advisor to talk about post-graduation plans. I didn't know what I wanted to be; I just knew I wanted to do something I enjoyed for a living. The trouble was, I couldn't think of anything I liked to do THAT much. Except read. "And you don't get paid to read," I told him. "Well, what if you can?" was his response. It was thanks to him that I received my master's degree in Book Publishing from Portland State University. While I was getting my degree, I worked at the entirely student-run publishing house Ooligan Press. I have been freelance editing since graduating in 2017.
Work Terms
I typically work Monday-Friday, anywhere from 9-5, but have been known to get up early and stay up late when the need arises. I charge per page: for a developmental edit, I charge $8 per page, a copyedit is $4 per page, and a proofread is $2 per page.
