My name is Karen Lauria Kosi. I was born and raised in New York City. I received my first computer in 1998 as a gift from my parents. Instantly fascinated by the possibilities of website design, I taught myself HTML and, later on, XHTML, CSS, PHP and graphic design techniques.
From 2006 to 2010, I managed communications for a prestigious New York art gallery. In this role, I designed and coded the gallery’s website and designed print advertisements that appeared in numerous artworld publications. I also coordinated printing for exhibition catalogues and invitations. Prior to that, I worked as a web design intern at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Currently, I work full time as a freelance website and social media consultant, helping organizations improve the functionality of their websites and plan online communications initiatives via social media and email marketing.
I have a BA in Art History and I am currently pursuing my MA in Middle Eastern Studies.
Work Terms
I generally work Monday through Friday, from about 10am to 6pm EST. I definitely prefer to communicate via email and I am always very quick to respond to my emails.
I currently have two steady consulting clients, whose websites, social media accounts, and email newsletters I manage, but I as I approach the final semester of my MA program, I am eager to grow my business, take on new projects, and expand my portfolio and skill set.
At the moment, I am especially interested in longterm work opportunities (i.e. website, social media, and email list management), but I am also interested in shorter term projects (i.e. coding a WordPress custom theme or an email template).
