My background is technical, but my passion is storytelling.
I wrote my first finished and edited story about thirty years ago (I guess the result was decent for a child). Right about that time too, I delighted in taking apart household electronic devices and putting them back together (my parents never found out, so I guess I was pretty good at it).
I now get paid for taking stuff apart and putting stuff together. It's pretty cool, but it's even cooler when this "stuff" is stories. And I certainly have the background (engineering day job aside ... science, history, extensive world travel, knowledge of eastern and western martial arts, passion for language, sound logic and a bit of a wild streak) to make these stories good--from idea to detail.
I stumbled onto Guru through an editor with whom I worked, and I think it's a great platform, as well as an opportunity to expand my creative horizons. So, here I am.
Do you have a small writing project for a game or need a script for a comic book, animation, or short film?
Do you have a story idea but you'd like to work through it with a developmental editor before you dive into the first draft?
Do you have a first (or fifth) draft of a story that you feel is strong, but maybe has a couple of elements that could work even better?
Are you an illustrator or photographer whose art would be amazing for a picture or photo book/series, but don't have a writer onboard to make it happen?

Work Terms
Short-term projects only. Timeline to be negotiated.
I apologize that I cannot take on large-scale / long-term projects at this time. I will also not take on writing assignments that involve ghost-writing, or co-authoring short stories, novelettes, novellas, or novels (to avoid conflict with my own brand and IP).
If, however, we partner up on a game, short animation/film, comic, or picture/photo book and later on you decide to expand the IP with prose, I'm open to discussing such a writing assignment.
