Writer. Editor. Community Builder.
As the head editor of multiple community sites for top business-to-business publishers including UBM and Informa (now one company), I've extensive experience writing and editing articles, editing contributed pieces, encouraging new contributors to write content for magazines or websites, creating and adhering to editorial guidelines, and confirming factual accuracy.
In my years as a freelancer, I worked for numerous leading organizations such as IBM, Dell, Symantec, Ingram Micro and McAfee. As a consultant, my services included writing and editing, as well as copy editing, but extended into public relations, marketing and promotional writing for sales teams, marketing professionals and executive ghost-writing.
Research and report-writing, providing a sounding board or brainstorming, are some of my strengths. Indeed, these are reasons I've moved away from today's technology publishing arena and its pursuit of shorter and shorter news blurbs that neither satisfy a reader's hunger for details or further impact. It's time to dig into meaningful work and being part of a team that makes a difference.
Born in England, I moved to the US as a kid and love the different facets of the country. This nation features so many environments, from wild oceans to calm plateaus, deserts to mountain ranges. Currently, my husband, daughter and I live in Florida, close to the Space Coast, but we plan to relocate to NC -- with my daughter's BF and our two cats.
Work Terms
I'm on the East Coast. I adhere to deadlines (unless they are unreasonable!). Typically I work Monday-Friday, 9-5, although freelancing also means the freedom to skip-out on Tuesday -- but also can mean working weekends and holidays. In other words, I work hard and long when necessary.
