Video Game Composer 🎮 Creating Dynamic Music Systems for your Game 👾 #gamemusic #gamedev #gamecomposer
My name is Amadeus Herrera and I am a game composer who specialises on creating Dynamic Music Systems that respond to Gameplay.
My background as a musician goes back 20+ years where I have been playing and composing music in different projects. I decided to study a Music & Sound Production course at BIMM Manchester where I specialised in Video Game Music. On the Production side of things I am proficient in ProTools, Ableton and Reaper and can quickly adapt to any Digital Audio Workstation the project requires. Regarding Music/Audio Game Implementation I am proficient in Wwise and Fmod as well as game engine native audio managers and processors. This way we can achieve dynamic music systems that move both horizontally and vertically to match in-game events, scenarios and interactions thus helping the player achieve a deeper level of immersion when playing your game. Furthermore I have experience composing with these dynamic systems in mind so the music is written to be responsive and immersive from the beginning. I write music using Sibelius mainly but I am proficient with GuitarPro and MuseScore as well so I am able to provide music sheets for real musicians to play and record their parts if the project requires so. I have experience with procedurally generated music as well should we choose to go on that route, using the tools previously mentioned as well as Max MSP.
A few things about myself is that in 2020 I moved from Mexico to Europe with my wife and my two dogs (Nayru & Nero) which has taught me so many things about myself. Amongst them is that I really enjoy cooking. Turns out authentic Mexican food is hard to come across around here! I love taking my dogs for walks as well as the occasional road trip to explore the old continent. Personally I like listening to rock music such as Led Zeppelin or ZZ Top, my favourite game is Ocarina of Time and my favourite game soundtrack(s) are 'Ori and The Will of the Wisps' and 'Hollow Knight'.
Organisation wise I have found Notion and Microsoft Teams to be super useful for having an all-in-one approach but I've also used Google Calendar, Trello, Telegram, even Discord. Once again I can swiftly adapt to the tools you are already using. I like working orderly however I understand that the creative work is squiggly and messy and I am here for it! One of my favourite parts of any project I've been involved in is both the exploration and conceptualisation, I really enjoy bouncing ideas back and forth and watching them transform and evolve. I strongly believe in feedback, I think it is an essential tool to get us closer to the goal!
As for additional skills I can bring to the team is video editing. I am proficient with Premiere Pro and know my way around Photoshop which can be useful for generating social media marketing content.
