I want you to imagine this

Let’s say you’re a guy who’s into writing. It could be fictional writing, non fictional writing, sales writing for hypothetical clients, whatever, The point is, you just like writing. But deep down you think to yourself “I can’t make a true career out of this,” so you just resign to your fate and pick a major that has nothing to do with it-better to try and find a job which will put food in your belly and a roof over your head than chase dreams.

But then, you get a taste, a glimpse of that long forgotten dream. You get a job offer as a writer from a German company. The pay is good, the work is online and remote, you make your own hours-what’s not to love about it? You take the offer, have the time of your life, realize that maybe you could at least make a profitable side hustle out of your passion. Those six months are the best six months you could’ve ever asked for.

Then you wake up-the company lays you off for cost reasons. You realize that this one specific company was a lot easier on novices than the rest of them; all of them only want the writer who has the years of experience and the list of certifications as long as his arm; I’m sure anyone, regardless of job market, can relate to this. You realize that sitting here and feeling sad for myself wasn’t going to get anything done, so you decided to sign up for courses and start working on that list of certifications-some from LinkedIn, but the main one being the Digital Marketing Program from Udacity, a good way to boost your skills for a fraction of the time and money that a traditional university would get you.

This is the exact story I went through. And, lucky for me I’m finally ready to enter the redemption arc.
