American Girl in Paris, writing, teaching English and exploring the world.
After growing up in Connecticut and studying acting and theatre at Fairfield University (graduated 2003), I moved to New York City to pursue multiple creative interests. I worked in several restaurants and customer services jobs over the years, to pay the bills and have the opportunity to work with others. Within a short period of time, I realized that I preferred to create my own projects rather than always audition and be apart of other people’s masterpieces. In addition to being an actor, I am a singer and have always had a passion for language and writing. I wrote several pieces in New York City which were performed in festivals and cabaret venues. Five years ago I came to Paris for two months to explore the world and participate in a TEFL course so that I could teach English as a foreign language. Since then, I have taught in more than one language school and had several private English students both in NYC and in France. Three years ago, August 2013, I returned to Paris to continue my life story abroad. I enjoy writing silly poetry, fantasy stories, songs, and chronicling my life adventures on a blog, Soul-Ramblings of a Wandering Chanteuse. I began with a poetry countdown, writing 50 poems in 50 days to kickoff my flight to Europe and have continued with short anecdotes and musings about life, culture, France, and my poetic whims. Now that I am an official ex-patriot, I love teaching English to new learners and would like to focus more on pursuing my writing skills. I briefly wrote for an online publication entitled Paow Magazine and I travel as often as possible, having been to Ireland, Italy, Berlin, Budapest, and many other places. This summer I took a children’s book writing class and am now working on my first full length novel.
