Published author with editing/proofreading Skills, looking for WRITING or EDITING jobs - will write news features, music pieces; will edit college/high-school essays
I am a graduating senior at New York University studying journalism, English, and creative writing looking for a position this spring. Currently, I intern with CBS News in the Newspath division, where I handle the collection of national and international news to edit and distribute packages to affiliates. I am also the editor-in-chief of NYU’s undergraduate comparative literature journal, where I oversee the biannual production and publication of a multidisciplinary and multilingual magazine. In addition, I report for the Knockturnal. I cover events around the city related to music, entertainment, and/or film. I have years of experience with interviewing, as well as an excessive portfolio of integrated creative writing-interview pieces.
As I transition into the post-graduate field, I am hoping to combine my many passions towards a position that I love. I have three years of editorial experience under my belt, having worked as an editorial intern at Pegasus Books (an imprint of W.W. Norton), where I helped put out two amazing novels: Dodging and Burning by John Copenhaver and Undiscovered Country by Kelly O’Connor McNees. At NBC, I did editorial work for the web platforms across the affiliate stations, which included translating to and from Spanish.
I am a passionate storyteller. Whether that is through editing fiction and creative work, or pushing out breaking news, I am a diligent and enthusiastic communicator. My time at CBS, NBC, and the Knockturnal have taught me concise AP style, while my editing experience in the creative field has expanded my insight. I am also an assistant to Rolling Stone and Esquire writer Jeff Slate, who is working on some personal music journalism projects that I transcribe for him.
My writing, reporting, and photography portfolios can be found at angelinafay.com.
