While working for two different chambers of commerce in the Buffalo, New York area for many years, I got to meet a lot of business owners, community activists and neighborhood leaders.
Hence, I had the chance to write a lot of stories about diverse subjects, from scrap metal companies (yes, they even took the kitchen sink) to hot dog stands to company profiles.
Later, I spent some time with a small but popular local newspaper writing a weekly column reflecting on every day experiences, (for example: "There's a mouse in the house and the tomatoes are ripe"; for the record, there were a ton of tomatoes that year.) I also covered town hall meetings, wrote business profiles and covered community events.
These days, I'm coordinating a program for entrepreneurs who are just starting out. Helping an entrepreneur take their idea out of their head and put it on paper is very rewarding.
