I help authors complete better books. I'm known for respecting the author's voice and have edited bestselling books about poker and self-help. In fact, some of the poker books I've edited have received reviews as the best-written books in their field.

Many of us notice a gap between English and math in high school. Often, that continues through college and into the business world. I can bridge that gap. I understand technical fields like poker and economics and have helped many authors translate their data into clear prose for a general audience. As a science fiction fan and author, I have a wide background in technical fields and in how to describe them entertainingly.

I am also willing to work with edgy material. If you have a somewhat unusual topic or wish to use specific words or phrases in a new sense, I can help you meet your artistic purposes while ensuring your audience understands. Language is always evolving! Grammar and style are best practices, and when you hire me, you gain my judgment. I've honed that judgment over fourteen years as a professional editor, membership in a variety of critique groups, and many years as a fast and passionate reader.

Work Terms

I work business hours, Monday through Friday, Pacific Time. Standard terms are half in advance, half on completion. Sample rates are 1 cent per word for proofreading, 3 cents per word content editing, $150 for an overview letter for the first 10,000 and $100 for each additional 10,000 words, and $150 for my new First Sentence intensive discussion.
