I specialize in creating accessible and engaging instruction that helps you to meet all your students' needs.
Hello, my name is Sam Harvey and I am a freelance instructional designer with 5 years of teaching experience: 2 of them have been teaching special education in a public high school setting and 3 of them have been teaching first year composition in the university setting.
While I was teaching, I created accessible and engaging instruction and curriculums. One of the curriculums that I made and tested was using the programming language JavaScript to teach mathematics to my students. Another incorporated the role-playing elements of Dungeons and Dragons with study and transition skills.
Throughout my time as a teacher, I created my own curriculums, but I also followed a curriculum that was created for me. During these times, I created engaging lessons and modules that were accessible to my students.
Because of these experiences, I have developed a passion for accessible instruction. I enjoy helping professors and businesses create instruction that is accessible for all students. I recently lead a one hour training workshop for university professors on universal design for learning, which aims to create instruction accessible for all students.
I create this accessible instruction by talking to the end users and finding out what they need from the content. Then, I set about finding out how to create that so it is available to everyone, not just them.
