Versatile performing, visual and literary artist: Singer, Actor, Voice Talent, Photographer, Graphic Designer, Copywriter and more
Tobi Mattingly is a Chicago-based performing artist, visual artist, and wordsmith.
Tobi graduated from Millikin University with a degree in musical theatre performance, and now works full time as a creative in various roles. She has served as director, music director, actor and singer for groups all over the midwest, including Theatre Building Chicago, NightBlue Theatre, Broadway Baby Dinner Theatre, Moraine Valley Theatre for Young Audiences, Circle Theatre, Village Players, the Beverly Theatre Guild and The Caroling Party. She has done on-camera and print work for various midwest companies as well.
As a music director, Tobi is a frequent collaborator with director Andrew Park and composer Scott Lamps, having brought a number of new musical works to life with them at Chicago's Shedd Aquarium and Quest Theatre Ensemble.
In addition to her work with adults, Tobi has a passion for the next generation of actors and musicians and works frequently as a teaching artist with organizations such as the Auditorium Theatre/Roosevelt University, American Theatre Company's Mosaic and Bridge programs, Citadel Theatre, Improv Playhouse, Bucktown Music, the Beverly Arts Center, Long Lake Camp for the Arts, and at various schools around Chicagoland.
Tobi is the founder of Artistic Conspiracy, an organization dedicated to using the arts to foster understanding and connection. She empowers fellow artists to remove the distractions that prevent them from making world-changing art through her company Beyond Starving Artist. She also teaches Shiva Nata, a movement-based meditation system that has similarities to Tai Chi and certain martial arts.
