Work Terms

There are several key terms that are commonly used when working as a freelancer, including:

Client: The person or organization that hires the freelancer for a specific project or task.

Scope of work: The specific tasks and responsibilities that the freelancer will be expected to complete for the client.

Deliverables: The final products or services that the freelancer will provide to the client upon completion of the project.

Milestones: Specific points in the project timeline at which the freelancer will deliver certain deliverables to the client.

Payment terms: The agreed upon rate and schedule for payment of the freelancer's compensation for their work.

Non-disclosure/Confidentiality Agreement: A legal agreement that prohibits the freelancer from disclosing any confidential information learned during the course of their work for the client.

Independent contractor: A worker who is not an employee and is responsible for their own taxes, insurance and other expenses.

Intellectual property rights: The legal rights that a freelancer may have to any work they create for the client.

Termination: The conditions under which either the freelancer or the client can end the agreement.

It's important for both freelancer and client to have a clear understanding of these terms before starting a project to avoid any misunderstandings or disputes later on.
