Professional literary and academic translator
Having acquired three languages at a very early age, I have always been fascinated by translation. The experience of moving from one language to another entails much more than a change in the sounds coming out of our mouths. We are recreated, reinvented by the process of translation, which is never lossless. However, there is also much to be gained through this process - a way of broadening our audience and scope of communication, and an understanding of other ways of thinking and expressing ourselves.
As a student of literature, I gained a better appreciation of how important language is to our existence, how, in many ways, it defines our existence, and I have dedicated myself to recreating these experiences in other words, for other cultures.
I have translated five novels by major Israeli authors from Hebrew to English and one science fiction novel from Russian to English, as well as countless poems, short stories, articles and more.
I currently reside in Paris, France where I translate, teach English, read books, and play music with my husband.
