My Journey in Software Development: Sheltergram, Anthology, and Asterix
My software development journey has been deeply shaped by the challenges and innovations I encountered while working on Sheltergram, Anthology, and Asterix. Each project has pushed me to refine my skills, solve complex problems, and build solutions that add real value to users.

Sheltergram – Transforming Property Management
Sheltergram started as an idea to simplify property management for landlords and tenants. I wanted to create a smart, automated system that not only made renting easier but also handled financial transactions seamlessly.

Challenges & Solutions
✅ Automating Lease Agreements & Payments – I built a system where landlords could list properties, tenants could rent them, and payments (including rent and utilities) could be tracked automatically. I integrated the M-Pesa API to handle seamless transactions.

✅ Scalable & Secure Database Design – Since property management involves vast amounts of data, I structured the database efficiently using MongoDB & Mongoose, ensuring fast retrieval of property records, tenant history, and financial reports.

✅ Tenant & Landlord Reviews – To add more transparency, I introduced a rating and review system where tenants could rate properties and landlords, making it easier to choose trusted rental spaces.

✅ User-Friendly Mobile & Web Interface – Sheltergram had to be accessible on both mobile and web. Using React Native for mobile and React & TypeScript for web, I ensured a seamless experience across devices.

Sheltergram has been a massive learning experience, pushing me to develop full-stack automation, secure payment processing, and real-time data handling for property management.

Anthology – The Creative Network
Anthology was built as a community-driven platform for writers, poets, and storytellers to share their work, connect with readers, and collaborate with other creatives.

Challenges & Solutions
✅ Content Creation & Sharing – I designed an intuitive content editor that allowed writers to publish their work effortlessly, supporting multimedia integration.

✅ Reader Engagement & Social Features – To keep the platform interactive, I added comments, likes, and discussions, helping creators build a loyal audience.

✅ Scalability & Performance – Since content-heavy platforms require optimized data handling, I implemented server-side rendering and efficient data caching to ensure smooth performance.

Anthology gave me deep insights into social platform development, content management, and community engagement, sharpening my ability to build applications that thrive on user interaction.

Asterix – Smart Automation for Businesses
Asterix was designed to help businesses automate their workflows, manage customer interactions, and streamline financial operations.
