Nothing is worse for a writer than to be stuck in some kind of rut. Your thoughts seem to stop flowing and your mind goes blank. Something I always find helpful to resolve this dilemma is to simply let someone in on what you're writing. Allow them throw their ideas and perspective at you. This is where I come in.
