30 years of IT
A Service Disabled VietNam era Veteran, at the age of 19 Tom was commissioned as the youngest Officer/Aviator in the United States Army.
After completing his military service flying UH-1H Huey Helicopters, Cropper transitioned into IT, starting his own software company. As a leader in early OLTP (Online Transactional Processing) Tom's software (AVOPS) was used to take the first airline reservation on the Internet. An early pioneer in E-Commerce marketing and sales, Cropper developed multiple software systems used to turn the World Wide Web into a profit making enterprise.
After 9/11 Tom began developing Knowledge Management systems as part of the nationwide War on Terror. In 2008 the United States Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff designated JLLIS (the Joint Lessons Learned Information System Tom authored) as the Knowledge Management Program of Record for all branches of the Department of Defense. This program was responsible for saving lives by ensuring that military lessons learned in blood would only be earned once. Millions of soldiers, marines, airmen and sailors used Mr. Cropper’s systems to save lives and accomplish their missions.
