Technical Writing and Training Specialist: My Success is Your Success
My technical career was a calling. I began my work experience after college in Human Resources at a major network station. It was a great job but it wasn't me. I went on to work in many different capacities including a purchase manager for a federal government agency, and even a lobbyist for a trade association. The only element that all of these positions shared was that I was always the office technology expert -- the person that everyone came to when they had a "how to" question.
Over 20 years ago, I accepted a position with IBM in the publications department, writing user manuals. Finally, I had found an area that was exciting to me. From there, I became certified and started teaching technology classes part-time at the local community colleges. Expanding my horizons, I became a Microsoft Certified Trainer and traveled throughout the country teaching Office software to end-users.
I've spent the last 10 years working for two major software companies as an implementation specialist and trainer. These positions allowed me to indulge in both of my passions, technical writing and end-user training.
Now I prefer to fly solo.
