I love to write original, high-quality content that empowers and inspires others. I also just enjoy the art of stringing words together and the challenge of writing about new topics.
I began my college experience at a small liberal arts college in Lookout Mountain, GA, and studied abroad in Rome, Italy, but then finally earned my Bachelor’s degree in English from Wichita State University, where I graduated with honors in 2004. After I graduated, I found myself navigating the non-profit world; I worked with foster children and their biological parents, trying to facilitate relational healing and family re-integration. Later I worked as a Case Manager and mentor recruiter/trainer at Big Brothers Big Sisters, where I matched mentors with at-risk students through the Bigs in Schools program.
I left the professional work-force after having children to stay home with my kids, but recently I volunteered to teach ESL to refugees at the International Rescue Committee. Though I had to quit teaching because of my busy schedule, I continue to mentor refugees as they work toward citizenship. I am currently on the committee of a local ministry, Refuge, that donates freshly stocked purses to women who have recently been released from incarceration or recovery and have had all their personal property stripped away. The purses are our way of reminding them of their worth and dignity. I also work with older youth at our local children's home once a month.
As you can see, my passions include social justice initiatives and empowering non-profits to help rectify the broken places in this world. I am a very clear communicator, and love to speak publicly and write. I volunteer as a writer for my local city blog and have included the link to my writing portfolio in my profile. I am currently helping a client write a non-fiction book. I have ghost written a book in the past and grammatically edited a chapter in a book of essays (by different authors). I am looking for more writing jobs and extra income, and especially like to write about justice, education, motherhood or spiritual topics. But I can write about almost anything!
Work Terms
I charge .10 per word, with a minimum fixed price of $50 per job. I will meet your deadline and update you daily. I like to iron out the details of my work terms with my clients project by project, to see what is the best fit for each client.
